Studio YALEX is an interdisciplinary practice founded by architect and artist Yasmina Ayuch.
Working between architecture, design, scenography and research, the studio approaches each project as an opportunity to understand places, materials and the ways people inhabit space.
Rather than separating practice from research, Studio YALEX considers them inseparable. Drawing, writing, making and building are all part of the same process of inquiry.
Founder
Yasmina Ayuch is an Argentinian-Lebanese architect and artist based between Beirut and Paris. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture Paris-Malaquais and the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), her practice spans architecture, painting, printmaking and writing. Across these disciplines, she explores the complex relationships between space, memory and human experience.
Her professional experience includes the development of major exhibition scenographies, including the Théâtre des Expositions at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, A Roof for Silence; the Lebanese Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in collaboration with architect Hala Wardé, and Nan Goldin’s retrospective This Will Not End Well. In 2026, her research proposal Reality in Withdrawal was shortlisted for the Lebanese Pavilion at the 2027 Venice Architecture Biennale, reflecting her ongoing engagement with architecture as a field of cultural inquiry and critical research.
Through a multidisciplinary dialogue between art and architecture, Yasmina Ayuch approaches architecture as both a functional discipline and a cultural practice. She conceives architecture as a form of inhabited sculpture—practical, poetic and engaged—capable of questioning contemporary urban conditions while fostering new ways of understanding identity, memory and the relationship between the tangible and the intangible.
